Have you ever wonder how technology will look like in the future? People all around the world write science fiction stories to somehow trying to predict how the world would look like if technology keeps on increasing. The author Walton R. Collins wrote many sci-fi prophets of the past to predict out future, which we are living right now. He is also trying to predict out future in which most of our generation will be living. In all these short stories that I have read about, Walton R. Collin’s is trying to tell us that our future will be very different, there will be robots doing most of the work, human seems to be useless in the future. Well some part of our future, we might have a wonderful life after all. Technology might have the power to create skills for human beings which will make our lives easier. These days, we take an airplane to get from one place to another, mostly long distance places. Well in the future, we may not have to take an airplane to travel anymore. We can travel ourselves. We might have the power of teleportation. In the present day in which we are living right now, most people have flat panel t.v. with high definition. Well, it will be very different in the future, t.v. will be upgrade to a system in which it can actually listen to human suggestions, so that you can enjoy the whole movie without thinking negatively about it. Walton R. Collins is trying to tell us, if technology keeps on improving, then most likely, we don’t really have to do anything. He is telling us both good and bad things about our future. Our future depends on human to upgrade robots to act and think like human. When robot age is finally here, it will have the power to help us out daily everyday activites. It can protect us everywhere we go, robots and machines will be able to make our lives easier by doing most of the things for us. The author is also predict multiple future for us, someday we might be living in space, call “Cyberspace.” We might be able to live in space in our future lives, who knows, but it could happen. So mainly Walton R. Collins is doing is predicting how our lives will look like if technology is improving to the max.

Trying my hard to get from one place to another
Pushing and pulling people away from me
Hearing the rumble of cars and conversations of people
Trains roaring from tunnel to tunnel
Distractions are on my way…
Blocking my entrance

The Streak #8

The end of the story was kind of a little too much of movements. Spoon was in Channele's apartment, and they were both kissing and hugging and loving each other. They both seems to have a wonderful time together. Spoon asked Channele to take a shower with him, but she said not. Gabi's mother is really sick and at the end she died. Ever since her mom died, Gabi didn't show up, no one knows where she went. All Spoon knows is, she is in drugs and she might be in a place where drug people are. Spoon then seems to get worry about Gabi, so he did whatever he can do to find her. He went to all the places that he was with Gabi before. At the end, he found Gabi laying down, she was in drug. He got her home and she felt better. The drugs made her feel no good. Later, Spoon got to go back to the Wallingford Academy, Gabi will miss and Spoon will miss her, but Gabi let him go. She wanted Spoon to graduate high school and then move on to college. Thats what Spoon did, he left Gabi and they both will sure miss each other. When Spoon graduated high school, he went back to Harlem to see Gabi, she is going to a good college too, but no scholarship. They were very happy to see each other again.
At the end of the story, they both were really happy to see each other again, their feelings seems to be tighten again. Rafe was not doing so good, he is on drugs. Gabi is going to a good college and she also is working too. I felt that Spoon and Gabi encountered so many difficult obstacles in their way, and they manage to overcome it. Spoon did a lot of work to help and save Gabi. Spoon did not gave up, even if it seems impossible to be solve.

The Labryinth

Have you ever heard of The Labyrinth before in your life before? A labyrinth is like a structure of unknown path, it can be a dead end or a live path. Just like Gabi Spoon in The Labyrinth. Gabi seems to be trap like wherever she goes, it seems like her problems are unable to be solve. She doesn’t really like her life a lot, be cause of all the stuff that just happened. She always feels low about herself and don’t know what to do. Fot this reason she seems to be havign a difficulty path that she is walking on or it might be a dead end to her path.
For Spoon, after enjoying his school year away from Harlem. When he got back, everything seems to be different. He seems to have an unstable road going on in his neat path. In WallingFord Academy, he was enjoying his time, it is like his path that he is walking on is very comfortable without any conflicts blocking his path Ever since he traveled back to Harlem during a vacation trip, everything changed There are so much things that is going on, it is like so much walls blocking his way and he don’t seem to have a clue on which other path he should take in order for his path to be smooth . Gabi is like one of the … that is creating many conflicts, and Spoon seems to be able to solve some of her conflicts, but not all. He is sad because he don’t really know what to do to help her out, and Gabi don’t like herself because he life seems miserable. So they both seems to be in a path where they are still making a choice on how to resolve Gabi’s problem. Till then in order for them to get to the target, they must take the right path that will lead them to success. If that happens, their conflicts will be solve, less feeling sads, more happiness, etc. Then this will show that they made the right descision and they are walking to the correct path and will be near their target.
I feel that if they know how to face their conflicts and resolve them, everything will be fine. They will have a happy ending. This will show that they know whatto do and is walking in the correct path

Never Mind, A Twin Novel

Have you ever seen a twin before in your life time? Usually a twin acts almost the same way as each otehr. After reading A Twin Novel, I guessed it sort of changed the way I am thinking. Edward who is older than Med for a few hours. They both act very differently. Edward is a boy and Meg is a girl. Edward usually make up stuff, to make it more interesting, but atthe end he gets low grades. Meg tells the real stuff that sounds boring to Edward, but gets very high grade compare to Edward. Meg usually work a lot, not a lot of gaming. Edward always into games and not so much into work, so he usually get low grades. When their parents decided that since you two have 2 different stlyes, he suggests you two should be in a school that best fits you. Meg got into a school with lots of learning, sports that she likes. Edward got into a school with not a lot of learning, mustly are activities.

I thought that all twins should act very similar even if 1 of them is a boy and one of them is a girl. this is weird. Even if you are born a few hours later, I am sure that there is a difference, but not like 2 different personalities. Improvements for Edward,"Edward, if you are goin to make up something up, just dont make up so obviously like everyone will know that you made it up." MEg always tries to show off, tryign to get his older brother upset. Meg always do stuff to get Edwad jealous about her. WHen this happens war starts. Will Meg and Edward get any better, or will they keep on challenging each otehr to see who is better.

Big Joe's Funeral

After readign this short story, I felt like Joe is so foolish, it is like he is playing and joking around with his life. He got his inserance and pretend to be dead. He used the money that he recieved and decorate a funeral home for himself. He pretend to be dead, and people all around the neighborhood were very sad that he is dead. On the day of his funeral, people were very sad that he died. After a while, he reveals himself and that he was just playing around. Then they had a party.
I felt that he is playing too much, he don't seem to be respectign his life. If you are in a funeral, it means that you have past away, it is a very sad situation. I don't think it is good play a game like this.

Scorpions

Jamal is having a lot of problem at this time. He is doing whatever he can do to help get his brother get out of jail. Now having a gun, he is useing it to scare his enemy, Dwayne. He always tries to make fun of Jamal or do somethign bad to Jamal. Dwayne is bigger and stronger than Jamal, but Jamal is not scare of him since he have a gun. When a crowd of people are watching a fight on Jamal and Dwayne, everyone is very excited, they know that Dwayne will win, because he is strong and big. When the fight started, he told Tito to give him the gun, Jamal shows the gun to Dwayne, at first Dwayne isn't really afraid, he said, " Its a fake gun, then suddenly, when he see ir again, it is a real gun. He got so scare and don't want to fight again. Jamal knows that he might get in trouble, so he told Tito to hide it away. When the prinicpal told Jamal to go to his office about Dwayne complain about him having a real gun. The principal know that Jamal wouldn't have a gun. Then when that was over, Jamal told Tito to try to get rid of the gun, Jamal wanted to get out of the Scorpions, because he knows that bad duture will happen if he don't get out of the gang. He do not want to be the leader of the gang. Since the Indians, another gang are having a conversation with the Scorpions, after the conversation, Jamal might ask the INdians to be the leader of the gang too.

I think Jamal will get into a whole lot of trouble, already so much trouble on him, I don't think he will survive very long. So far he wanted to get out of the Scorpions, he do not want to be the leader and he is tryign to get rid of the gun. If the police finds out about this, Jamal might get into jail too.

Scorpions by Walter Dean Myers

The 1st 6 chapters are about Jamal and his little sister Sassy who have been looking out at the window all night jsut to wait for their mommy to return home. Sassy was worried because their mom have not been home when it is very late. Jamal told his little sister that he is not worry about their mom when he is really is. Finally midnight arrived, their mom came home. Jamal was very tired waiting for their mom to return home. His mom is very tired too. Jamal asked his mom on how is Randy doing so far. He is doing fine in jail. The next day while eating breakfast, his mom asked Jamal to visit on of Randy's friend who got out of jail, Mack. She said, " Mack need to tell you something for you to tell Randey." Jamal don't teally like Mack because he is mean, etc. Mack is in the gang of the Scorpions, and his brother is hte the oldest in the gang members. Jamal don't like gangs. Ever sinced his brother got into jail, Jamal always gets into trouble, especially in school. He is always late, most of his time no h.w., etc. Jamal best friend is the only freind he can count on Tito, they act like they are really close like brothers, but they are really really good friend. Randy's brother is the leader of the Scrpions. When Jamal met Mack, Mack asked Jamal to be the leader of the gang and gave him 2,000 dollars. Jamal knows that in order for him to get his brother out, he need $500 bucks. Right now if he is leader he will get $2,000 dollars. Then Mack told Jamal to meet him somewhere. When Mack sees Jamal, he gives him a gun..... Then at school, he got in to a lot of trouble, he got angry because of Dwayne. He is always getting Jamal mad, he had a fight with Dwayne.

Ever since Jamal's older brother got into jail because people thougth he killed somone, Jamal always get into trouble. Jamal is finding many ways to get his brother out of jail. I feel very sorry for Jamal, he is suffering a lot just to find a solution to his brother out of jail. The principal told Jamal that if he keeps up with these nonsense usuch as being late, or no homework, or fighting, he might not be albe ot go back to school anymore.

The Streak

Have you ever heard or read of the short story,The Streak before? This short story is about Jamie Farrell with a lot of bad luck throughout his week. At the beginning Jarmie almsot get bad luck, in his basketball game, his team is jsut 1 point away from tieing with the other team. There was only seconds away from tieign with the other team. At the end passing and passing........... They still lost. Jarmie best friend is Froggy. Whenever Jarmie don't like something or isn't happy, he talks to Froggy. One time they were walkign together and Jarmie read a poster abou the junior dance. jarmiereally want to danceith Celia, because he thinks she is very hot and pretty. All Jarmie knows is that with his bad luck, nothing can come true. When he gt ome, he hurt his ankle, and his ela teacher told him that he felled the grade. He then called Froggy and talked about his dissappointment. Froggy told him to count how many bad luck happened. Jarmie told him 7 bad luck. Froggy calcualted and told him that you will have 7 good luck coming up, you just have wait and see. Jamie then realized that the gd luck is startign to happen, he did a good job in school, free soda,etc. Sonner or later, he found out that the have 6luck in a row and needed to save just 1 more luck for Celia. Jamie really waned and is looking forward for Celia to go to te dance with him. Today at school, it was his basketball games. He told himself not to play the game or else his last luck will get ruin. Only seconds away and the score is only 1 score away from winning. Suddenly Jamie recieved the ball... He don't know what to do, he jsut throw it and it scored!!!! Because of him his team won the basketball game!! Jamie was really sad and disappointed!!!!! Heis last chance is ruin... At the end Celia came to him and asked him to go to the dance with her. Jamie was really surprised and said , " YES". He is really happy. Celia told him that so far she seem to be having a lot of goodluck in a row. So basically, Jamie and Celia both have goodluck in a row.

I felt that it is so exciting and really quincident for Jamie to go to the dance with Celia. Jamie really is lookifn forward of saving the last luck with her. But he used it by accident and is very dissappointed and knows that he used up his last luck and know that he can't get Celia to dance with him. At the end, Celia asked Jamie to go to the dance with her, because she seem to be having a sreak of goodluck toooo!!! So thats why I think that this is so quincident. Jamie knows that theres no way he will have any luck with going to the dance with Celia, but it really happened at the end. Jamie wish got granted and Celia luck might keep going!!
